FinXL is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to be deployed with our federal government client as part of a high-impact digital transformation program. This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting the design, development, and delivery of complex software solutions within a modern technology environment.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain Baseline Security Clearance.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead and contribute to software analysis, design, development, prototyping, and testing
• Design and implement high-quality Java-based software solutions
• Engage in system integration, release planning, and production support
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to other developers
• Ensure compliance with secure development practices and agency standards
• Prepare and review documentation, including technical specifications and user guides
• Support continuous improvement and contribute to broader ICT strategy

Technical Environment:

• Core Technologies: Java, Angular (or equivalent), OpenShift, OpenLiberty
• Practices: Agile delivery, secure SDLC, continuous integration
• Toolsets: CI/CD pipelines, configuration and deployment automation tools

Required Experience & Skills:

• Strong enterprise Java development experience
• Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable solutions
• Experience with release management and systems integration
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to provide specialist advice and lead development efforts
• Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
• Ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance

Working Arrangements:

• Hybrid model - based in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide
• Minimum 3 days in-office per week ongoing
