Job description
Network Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team supporting the development and delivery of secure network solutions for a prominent defence customer. This is an exciting opportunity for those passionate about working on large-scale, complex, and distributed network platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze Statements of Work, validate Bills of Materials, and engage with customers and stakeholders.
- Design detailed network solutions, implementing them from design to delivery.
- Hands-on experience with network architectures, routing, switching, and wireless technologies.
- Implement and deploy network changes to production systems both independently and as part of a team.
- Engage with stakeholders and challenge decisions when necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Provide solutions to complex scenarios, ensuring stakeholder objectives are met.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in LAN/WAN and Wireless network design and solutions.
- Proficiency in installation and configuration of switches, routers, and associated technologies.
- Strong understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), STP, LACP, QoS, BFD, and VPNs.
- Network security experience including firewalls, security policies, and securing network devices.
- Experience with IP MPLS/BGP-based networks is advantageous.
- Prior network gateway experience is beneficial.
Security Clearance Requirement:
- Applicants must hold a current NV1 security clearance (minimum) to be considered.
Work Environment:
- Flexible location: This role is open to candidates in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, or Adelaide.
- Flexibility in work hours is essential, with possible after-hours (including weekends) deployment and implementation.
- Shifts may occur up to two times a week, but flexibility in working hours is key.
