Junior Land/Cadastral Surveyor - Field Based Role
Location: Victoria (Regional and Remote Areas)
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract
Role Overview: We are seeking a motivated Junior Land/Cadastral Surveyor to join our dynamic team in the design and construction of an extensive fibre optic network project. In this field-based role, you will be responsible for providing Optic Fibre design solutions through surveying activities in both office/WFH and field environments. This includes identifying cable routes, liaising with landowners and stakeholders, preparing AUTOCAD 'For Construction' plans, assisting with material ordering, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake route identification and site surveys for Optic Fibre network requirements.
Identify property boundaries and ensure compliance with land access notifications as per legislation.
Survey and peg optic fibre cable routes, determining the most economical buildable path.
Contribute to the completion of detailed designs, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
Maintain and ensure cost-effective solutions for network builds and rearrangements.
Engage with property/utility owners and occupiers, ensuring adherence to Land Access & Activity processes.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including specialists, sub-contractors, project managers, and local authorities.
Share technical surveying knowledge within the team to support design and implementation.
Prioritize safety and ensure network integrity at all times.
Key Accountabilities:
Strong technical knowledge in network architecture and civil construction practices.
Demonstrated experience in technical design, construction, and surveying activities.
Ability to manage and maintain Databases of Record (DBoRs) related to construction designs.
Ability to produce detailed reports and presentations using IT systems.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and customers.
Qualifications & Experience:
Tertiary Qualification or Technical Diploma in Surveying (or relevant industry certifications).
At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in surveying and technical design.
Extensive experience in AutoCAD 2D Drafting.
Knowledge of telecommunications network architecture and construction standards.
Experience in managing stakeholder relationships.
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license (manual vehicle operation required).
Ability to travel and work remotely, with up to 18 nights away, followed by 9 days at home.
Comfortable working in regional and remote areas.
Compensation & Benefits:
Overtime paid for weekend work: 1st 3 hours on Saturday at time and a half, and double time for the rest of the weekend.
No overtime Monday - Friday, however, overtime will accrue as time in lieu.
$298 travel allowance for each day away from home.
