Job description
AWS DevOps Engineer
FinXL IT Professional Services is currently looking for a highly skilled and experienced AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer to join their Team. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based systems and ensuring the scalability, performance, and security of our cloud resources. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, passion for cloud technology, and a deep understanding of Confluent Kafka and its ecosystem. This role is crucial for supporting our existing Kafka platform and for building and onboarding new tools/technologies as part of a central platform.
- Open to both Sydney and Melbourne
- Hybrid working(3 days onsite)
- 6-12 months contract with possible extensions
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable Confluent Kafka clusters on AWS.
- Monitor and optimize Kafka performance, including tuning and troubleshooting to ensure high throughput and low latency.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate Kafka into our applications and data pipelines, providing expertise in Kafka best practices.
- Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity by designing and implementing Kafka backup and restoration strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and Kafka features, evaluating and adopting them to meet business needs.
- Provide operational support for Kafka and related AWS services, including on-call rotation
- Lead the onboarding of new vendor tools in Risk Technology by participating in the initial assessment, design, and deployment within our internal network.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with Confluent Kafka, including setup, configuration, and management of clusters.
- Strong understanding of AWS services, particularly those related to computing, storage, networking, and security.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Knowledge of additional messaging systems (e.g., AWS SQS, SNS) is a plus.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana) and log management solutions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
